This year's Annual Reverend Wells and Chief Rooney Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless was a huge success, as always! We were able to feed over 400 homeless men, women and their families a great Thanksgiving Feast thanks to our staff and volunteers from the Narcotics Department.
This was truly a special Thanksgiving! Not only did we honor those in Recovery, but ODAAT also honored Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey who announced that he will be retiring in January 2016. Commissioner Ramsey and the Police Department have worked so diligently to maintain a strong and trusting bond with the ODAAT family and City of Philadelphia. We are so grateful for his service to our city and residents, he will surely be missed. In addition to honoring Commissioner Ramsey's work, we also paid tribute to Robert Wilson III, a Police Officer from the 22nd District and part of the ODAAT family, who lost his life in the line of duty in March 2015 while protecting and serving his city and neighbors.
Sometimes we forget how much it means to an individual for them to know that someone cares, and ODAAT is so grateful for the selflessness and willingness of our volunteers to help make this holiday special for suffering people. The AFCOM center was full, the program went great, the food was awesome, and most importantly, we were all there to serve our suffering brothers and sisters in God’s name.
Thanks again to everyone for all of your hard work! WHO DAT? ODAAT!
