In addition to this, school children from around the area unveiled a new piece of collaborative artwork to be included in the Mural Arts Program this summer. Another local Philadelphia School's choir was also present to lead the room in song, a powerful display that elicited a roaring applause from the audience. The children had dedicated so much time to their Mural Arts project and the musical performance, and it was great to see their hard work come to fruition and be recognized, especially by Mayor Kenney!
One student also spoke on their interpretation of their artwork. Embodying the work and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, the piece describes that "the Fight and Journey are not over, we still must work to spread Love, Acceptance and Peace to all" if we would truly like to see change that will empower those who are most marginalized.
